Transitioning from state designation to ACS verification
Kona Community Hospital, a state-designated Level III trauma center in West Hawaii, partnered with Optimal Healthcare Advisors to prepare for American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS-COT) verification, scheduled for June 2025. During a comprehensive one-week onsite assessment, Optimal Healthcare Advisors worked closely with the hospital to identify gaps in meeting ACS-COT standards and address key issues within the trauma program. The thorough evaluation, which included a mock survey and analysis of trauma program documentation, helped ensure the hospital remains on track for successful verification.
“We appreciate Optimal Healthcare Advisors’ assistance in ensuring Kona Community Hospital’s trauma program meets the requirements for our upcoming ACS Level III trauma center verification. Their assessments identified deficiencies and weaknesses, providing action plans tailored to our facility, resources, and survey timeline. Thanks to their ongoing support, Kona Community Hospital looks forward to a successful ACS Level III survey in June 2025.”
